I always wait with excitement each winter to see who would be announced as the "Celebrity Interview" for Canadian Music Week. Past years have shown host to Nikki Sixx and Gene Simmons, both of who I am huge fans of, so I will say I was beyond excited when I found out that this year would play host to the Women of Rock and Roll... The sisters of HEART. You haven't been able to turn on the radio in the past 30 years without hearing one of their hits. From "Barracuda" to their insanely amazing power ballad "Alone", HEART has pretty much become a staple of rock music.
Being able to sit in a room with these music icons was beyond inspirational. They were fresh off a huge show at Massey Hall the night before, and to listen to them speak about their fans and the energy that they give the Wilson sisters to perform was so great. I loved listening to their banter and in ways they reminded me of the connection that I share with my own sister.
The sisters sat down to a packed room, with radio broadcaster Stu Jefferies for a indepth discussion about music, memories, and their first ever biography, "Kicking and Dreaming: A Story of Heart". The highlight of the interview for me, was when they moved over to the side of the stage, picked up guitars and sang a few acoustic songs for the small crowd.
HEART will be back in the summer, with a show at the Molson Canadian Ampitheatre in July, so if you haven't been able to see them yet, go grab yourself a ticket before it sells out !!!
