I feel like I had waited pretty much forever to see The Goo Goo Dolls perform. I have been a fan of theirs since the 1990s and myself and a friend of mine would always talk about them and how badly we wanted to actually see them play.
I was ecstatic when I got my LiveNation update back in June and I saw that the Goo Goo Dolls would FINALLY be back for a show, and performing at the Molson Ampitheatre.
The Spill Canvas and 54-40 were the openers. I was kinda bummed that Switchfoot didnt open up for the Toronto date, but overall for some old dudes, 54-40 were pretty good! I don't listen to them on a everyday basis but I was surprised that I knew pretty much all the words to the songs!
I was SOOOOO pumped for the Goo Goo Dolls to finally take the stage. We had moved up to the front of the 200 level, and had a perfect view ! It wasn't a sold out show, but the guys gave it 110% on the stage! We were dancing the whole time! Johnny Rzeznik stole the show, his insanely good looks, smooth vocals and his ability to command attention was pretty much Epic!
They busted out hit after hit, everything from "Here is Gone" to "Name" to "Black Balloon". One of my favourite moments of the show, of course.. was right before the encore when I finally got to hear "Iris" live. It has been one of my many fave songs since elementry school. Looking over there were tears in my best friends eyes, the whole crowd was singing...its moments like that when I think about how happy I am and how great my life is right now.
Right before the encore, Rochelle and I performed an Epic move in only a way that we could. We crawled though the bars that seperate the 200lvl from the floors, and made it right down to the front just in time for "Broadway".
Overall, It was Totally worth the wait to be able to see the Goo Goo Dolls perform. I cannot wait to see them play again!
