KIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD ROCKKKKKKKKKKK!
and he kicked some major ass this past Friday night when his Born Free Tour stopped at the Air Canada Centre.
Kid Rock is one of those artists that seriously does not get enough credit for how talented they really are. A unique mix of Rock, Rap and Country, Kid Rock has been making music for the last 20 years. This was my 3rd time seeing Kid Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker Band, and again, I was blown away by how much of a show man Kid Rock is.
The show started with a bit of "Don't Stop Believing" and a montage of Kid Rock and his accomplishments before he ran though the swinging doors of his stage wearing a white fur vest to kick off the night with "American Badass". The Stage was set up to look like a old school saloon from a western movie with a huge animal skull above swinging doors, stage complete with stripper poles and a cat walk.
The ACC was probably only half full for the show, which surprised me. Back in 2009 I saw him perform to a massive sold out crowd at the Molson Ampitheatre. The fans at the ACC on Friday night didn't care how packed it was, they were loud and they were dancing. I was quite entertained by the massive amount of older woman who seemed to go out of their way to dress like some sort of Trailer Trash Cowgirl. I even saw one older (50ish) woman, decked out in a mini-skirt and cowboy boots, drunkly dancing with a wall and security had to physically pick her up and take her out of the venue...
Kid Rock sang all of his popular songs, from "Only God Knows Why" to "Bawitaba" to my personal favourites "So Hott" and a amazing version of "Picture". It was a great mix of older songs and new songs off his newest more country album "Born Free". Kid Rock turned 40 this year and has been celebrating the whole tour, complete with a montage of Birthday Shoutouts and a interesting song called "F*cking 40" The highlight of the show for most people was probably when he came out for the encore and did a stripped down version of the massive summer hit "All Summer Long".
Overall the show lasted about 2 hours, and complete with lasers, fireworks and strippers. He played the Guitar, Drums and also DJ'ed while drinking shots of whiskey! Kid Rock and his Twisted Brown Trucker Band put on another great show.. and seriously people... if you get the chance.. do not miss seeing Kid Rock. You won't be disappointed!
