From Australia Tame Impala had previously sold out a show at the Horseshoe when they were in Toronto in the Fall and it was clear that they had gained more fans since then ! They are a 4 piece group of young dudes from Perth who make "psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock music" which to me translates to "a flashback to the 60s mixed with the sounds of Zeppelin and a hit of acid". Either way, I was pretty impressed.
Consisting of Kevin Parker (lead guitar and vocals), Dominic Simper (guitar), Nick Allbrook (bass) and Jay Watson (drums and backing vocals, Tame Impala sound like pretty much nothing I have never heard before. It is clear that it is Kevin's show, as he is the very clear leader of this band. Two of the members actually didn't say a word to the crowd all night. They released their debut album in November 2010, and have been on a mission to bring back the 60s ever since. Parkers voice sounds so similar to Lennon that it is uncanny!!!
They are totally worth checking out, especially if you are the kind of person who enjoys sunny days, and kickin back with a joint and closing your eyes and getting lost in some pretty sweet tunes.
