I don't remember the first time I saw FALL OUT BOY, but I know I have never missed a Toronto show. I remember the first time I met Pete Wentz, and how excited I was. Then I remember the time I met him again, and he gave me and my sister backstage passes to their show at the Kool Haus. They are a band that I have grown up with since High School and no matter how many times I see them play, I go back to being a teenager and remembering how I would Listen to Under the Cork Tree on repeat day after day after day. Patrick, Pete, Andy and Joe... a band who I have come to love unconditionally and grown up with. Standing in that massive crowd, most of them soaking wet due to the pouring rain, and seeing so many teenagers, singing to a band who I have loved since I was their age, made me feel a bit proud. To me, it proves that if a band can connect with one kid, 10 years ago, and another kid today.. then clearly they are doing something right. After taking 3 years off, and coming back last year with "Save Rock and Roll", and this being their third show in Toronto since announcing that comeback..going from the small Sound Academy to the 15,000 people who came out to see them last night at the Molson Canadian Ampitheatre, these four boys from Chicago still got it. Their sound has for sure matured over the years, from Dance Dance to the powerful title track "Save Rock and Roll", which Elton John lends his voice too, but its certain, that as long as Fall Out Boy keep making music and touring, there will be new teenagers and old fans who will show up and scream and dance dance to their music.
