That moment when you hear a song, or see that band you love, and in that moment, nothing else matters
DOWN WITH WEBSTER KILLS IT.
I don't really know what else I can say about this band that I haven't already said in previous posts.
On March 26th I headed down to Brantford to check out Down With Webster. By the time I got there, the place was PACKED. There was a varied crowd, but mostly dominated with teenage girls, who all seemed to have left their pants at home, I think they were all trying to become what the Down With Webster boys refer to as "Ponies".
I have been seeing Down with Webster perform for quite a few years now. I can think back to the 1st time I saw them play, It was at this bar in Guelph, called Vinyl, they were opening for illScarlett. There was this tiny stage and all off a sudden there was 7 dudes on the stage, and all I kept thinking was "whyyyyyy is he wearing a Koala Bear Backpack". Over seeing them over and over again, they started to grow on me, after I while I began to realize that Down With Webster had potential to take over the music industry. They were unique, they have an insane energy, and everytime I see them play, I can tell that they genuinely love being on he stage
Anywho, I have been looking forward to this show all week, as I haven't seen DDub play a full set in a LONG time. I wasn't let down. From the time they came out on the small stage at Jackhammers, they had full energy! The crowd never calmed down from the time the 1st notes of Time To Win started! The whole show girls were being pulled out of the crowd and people were dancing and sreaming. The energy was overwhelming!
The guys were totally feeding off the crowd. Everytime one of the guys went near the front of the stage, hands came up from everywhere trying to take a grab at the boys, and man did they love it. I love watching Bucky perform. He has this insane charasmia and adorable smile and he totallllly connects with the audience and you can tell he loves doing what he does.
Marty is an amazing drummer. At one point in the show he did this killer drum solo. I was mesmerized by it. AMAZING!
All the guys bring something to the band, and I couldnt picture ever seeing them without all 7 members! Some highlights of the show for me personally were hearing some of the old songs, such as Grind and Pop Your Trunk and Champs. As much as I totally love every single song on Time To Win vol. 1, its always great to hear the old tunes!
The guys said that Brantford was one of the best crowds they had played to in a long time.. and they even did 3 songs for the encore! Overall, I was so impressed and proud with how far they have come since that day I saw them play in Guelph.
With songs at #2 and #25 on the Much Charts and "Your Man" being played on pretty much every single station in Canada as well as a spring US tour with Cute Is What We Aim For.. I can't see Down with Webster calming down anytime soon!
all the best boys, you deserve it!!!
Check out some Vids from the show.
