Burlington Sound of Music Festival

I don't think there hasn't been a year in a long time that I haven't headed down to the beautiful Spencer Smith Park in Burlington for the Sound of Music Festival!   I have seen everyone play there from Finger Eleven to Sloan to illScarlett and this year the Kick Off show to the weekend was Faber Drive and Marianas Trench.

We got there just as Faber Drive was hittin the stage and it was INSANE. Rumor has it there were 25 000 people there!!! We could not get anywhere close to the stage. I saw Faber Drive not to long ago when they opened for Hedley in Hamilton, so I always know what to expect. They always put on a good show, the crowd loved them!  My fave part was totally when they went into a medley of covers that included Tiao Cruz "Break Your Heart" and Jason Derulo!! There was tons of younger kids out with their parents and I saw lots of them singin along to the words. For most of the show tho, I was a tad bored, I love FD so maybe it was just that I was tired/it wasnt dark out/I was distracted.. oh well.

Next up was Marianas Trench. Yes I am fully aware that people are not going to like what I am going to say (for the 2nd time) and you can bash me all you want, but seriously, Grow up.

I will clarify this- as a recorded band, and song writers, I am a HUGE fan of Marianas Trench. They produce insanely awesome pop songs and some of the best ballads I have heard in a Long time.  As a performance band, I am still not impressed... Last time I gave Josh the benefit of the doubt with his voice. This time I am not. He wasn't hitting the high notes, nor most of the notes for that matter, his voice would get high then trail off. My Fave M-Trench song is their song "Say Anything" and I was actually SOOOO Dissappointed at how it was performed.

The crowd could have caredless about how the band sounded, as Josh looked great in a hot pink dress shirt and jumped off the stage a few times.

I ended up leaving early so I don't know how the show ended, but I am sure if you tune into the MMVAs on Sunday Night, You can make up your own mind.
