.. dissappoints at Brantford Hockeyfest.
I was SO excited to see the boys of Marianas Trench perform on the weekend. I have always been a fan of the band.. and I LOVE their new album Masterpiece Theatre. I was sad that I was underwhelemed. I think that lead singer Josh Ramasy was having throat issues or something so I will give them another chance. His voice was all over the place and he wasn't hitting the high notes that he should have been. I still had a blast watching them play.
The crowd was totally loving them, as at this time it was made up of teenage girls on the all ages side.. and guys who were slowly getting wasted on the 19+ side of the stage. One of the highlights of their performance was when Josh picked a girl to come up on stage and feed their guitar tech cake for an entire song. I thought it was so funny! I also liked how well he was with interacting with the crowd. He actually ran though the middle twice and let the crowd be a part of the show.
Even though I was dissappointed in the overall performace, I will be heading to the Burlington Sound Of Music Festival on June 17th (next thursday) to check them out when they kick off opening night with fellow Pop Punkers Faber Drive. Hopefully Josh is feeling better!!!

maybe if you spent less time texting on your phone you would have been able to pay more attention to the show
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how you get a press pass with a point and shoot camera!
ReplyDeleteease up douchebag, easy to criticize behind the cloak of anonymity... be a man and be a critic with your name attached... jackass!
ReplyDeletehow does texting limit her ability to use her ears? she claimed he sounded like he was having some throat issues - every singer does. So maybe it wasn't his best show - is it really that big of a deal? No. Jenny said nevertheless she still had a good time watching them AND that she would be seeing them again on June 17th. Seems to me that she's not really judging Marianas Trench on this ONE show so relax.
ReplyDeleteJenny - I wasn't at the show so I can't claim to know what he sounded like but I have known you for a long time and know that you pretty much love every concert you see so when you say something sounded off then it probably did. Stick to your instincts girlie!

"be a man and be a critic with your name attached" LMAO maybe you should practice what you preach..
ReplyDeleteHey, tough guy/girl/animal/shehedevil? Being part of the media does not necessarily mean having a big dSLR camera on her side. A point and shoot camera does a sufficient job when she mostly does reviews of the shows! Clearly you're not familiar with the term "press" as it doesn't directly translate into 'photographer' or 'photojournalist'
ReplyDelete:) great shots love and great review!
"His voice was all over the place and he wasn't hitting the high notes that he should have been" did you also notice I kept laughing too ?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help myself, every time i looked down in the front I saw YOU !!! this is the real cause of my voice and laughter
sorry but the truth must come out
Wow. *Gasps* Josh Ramsay actually commented? HAHA. Maybe you should spell your last name right then loser before you try and take on someone's name as your own...
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE MT but I know when Josh doesn't sound right and I've been to plenty of shows and he hasn't been perfect all the time. BUT, as Jenny said, they are fantastic entertainers...and seeing them when they first started out to now...they've come a long way!
Oh annnnd another thing. If it's true...if you REALLY are the one and only Josh RamSAY, you'd know that reviewers are allowed to give bad reviews (which this one wasn't even all that bad), and musicians are supposed to suck it up. It happens, you learn from it, you get over it.
