This Is Gonna Hurt

Last week I got the opportunity to high-five and actually talk to one of my inspirations. I wrote about him while he was in town for Canadian Music Week, and since then Nikki Sixx has released his newest book - This Is Gonna Hurt, and also released an album with band SIXX AM of the same name.

Rockstar, Photographer, Clothing Designer, Author, Radio Dj.. At 52 years young Nikki Sixx has seen and done more in his life then any person I have ever met. His attitude that Life is Beautiful and his newest venture to changing what the media and public deem as "beautiful" is truly inspiring. This Is Gonna Hurt is part photography book part stories, all based around Nikki Sixx and what he considers to be true beauty.

By the time Nikki arrived at the Chapters at John and Richmond last Saturday almost 1000 people had shown up to meet him and have a chance to get their book or cd signed. An equal mix of both guys and girls, and people of all ages were lined up, some as early as the night before! Motley Crue has become a band that appeals to generations, and that was clearly evident. I have never seen so many band tribute tattoos in one room in my life. Nikki was more then happy to take the time to sign wrists and legs and shoulders of fans who were headed straight to the tattoo parlour to get his signature tattooed onto their bodies.

If you need to be inspired, or you need something to pick you up and make you think about life. If you need a reminder of what it is to be passionate about life - then go and get "This is Gonna Hurt".
