Before seeing Marina and the Diamonds open for Katy Perry last week, I didn't know much about her other then Katy Perry is a huge fan and Perez Hilton always posts about her on his website. One may think that "Marina and The Diamonds" that "The Diamonds" stands for her backing band, but according to her, that is not the case. Marina's last name is Diamandis which is greek for Diamonds, and she also refers to her fans as her Diamonds.
Marina and the Diamonds blew my mind. She performed a killer mix of new-wave pop music mixed with ballads and keyboards. I understand why some of the younger people at the concert may not be a fan of her music, but personally, I thought she was amazing!! For an opening act to put on such a upbeat show and have great audience interaction was awesome. I will for sure check her out if she comes to Toronto again!
