I don't really know how Rap Veterans PUBLIC ENEMY have anything to do with rock radio or Edge 102.1...but for some reason they headlined this weekends Sausagefest at the Sound Academy. Although a shitload of people cleared out after The Sheepdogs finished their set, the Die Hard Public Enemy fans were out in full force, wearing shirts and pushing as close to the stage as possible. Having been together for over 25 years, Public Enemy pretty much paved the way for rap groups of the 90s and beyond. Even if you have never heard their music, you know the man, Flavor Flav. He has become one of the most successful reality TV stars ever, with appearances on The Surreal Life, Strange Love, and most recently "Flavor Of Love".
Chuck D and Flav totally killed it on Saturday Night. I had a blast watching them, and loved how they interacted with the crowd. Chuck D was constantly reaching out and touching the hands of the eager fans in the front row. At one point Flav even crowd surfed.. actually more then once. Overall, I was impressed and would totally go see them play again!
